Four years ago today, Hong Kong lost one of the best and most loved singers - Anita Mui died of cervical cancer at the age of 40. She first became famous in 1982 when she won the new talent singing contest. Since then she has released numerous albums, and I still own a whole range of cassettes, black vinyl records, CDs and DVDs.
If I have to nominate her best album ever, it has to be her last concert. Despite battling with late-stage cancer at that stage, she still managed to do 8 near-perfect concerts less than 2 months before her death. Now looking back at the DVD recording, it's very obvious that her health has deteriorated so significantly that she couldn't really do much dancing, but her performance was still top notch and the whole show was sheer elegance. It was so obvious that, when she sang her very last song on stage ever, she knew that she would never have the chance to return to the stage again.
It's so sad to see her family and friends fighting over her will after her death - probably something she would never have wanted in the first place.
If there's any consolation, she left the stage and the world with loads of fond memories of her - her songs, her films, her charity work, and her character.
