I went to see Kylie's Showgirl concert back in April 2005 in London Earls Court - that was before she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was forced to cancel the rest of the tour. That was a brilliant concert and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I was hitting myself so much when I missed the Showgirl Homecoming tour tickets sale (I wouldn't have got the tickets anyway, as they were sold within the first hour or something ridiculous).... and while I saw the odd ticket or two going on sale at various online ticket agents, I never got round to purchasing them.... And by Christmas 2006 I just gave up on going to see the concert as all the tickets in London were sold out.
Was it my luck in 2007? In the evening of 3rd January, while I was surfing the net, I just had another quick look to check that all the tickets were indeed sold out, and alas, 2 tickets became available for the 5th January show at Wembley Arena, and they were in the block of seats right in front of the stage, in the middle section. So I quickly bought the tickets and asked Russell to go with me.
So what did I think of the show? It's well worth the money..... Kylie could have easily just done the same show without changing a thing, but she has changed the rather demanding show into something that she can cope better after her battle with cancer. The show is still split into 7 acts, but now there's an intermission after Act 4, to give Kylie a mid-show break. The show also has a slightly slower pace, with less demanding dance routines and a slightly longer break for Kylie between acts, and it actually works better this way. Some of the songs got replaced, with mixed results - Replacing "Giving It Up" with her new song "White Diamond" is a good choice, while cutting out "Your Disco Needs You" is a sin really!
Still, I really enjoyed the show and I hope that this will not be the last tour Kylie is doing!
